MAJ Columns English
-
Mumia Abu-Jamal has written many hundreds of columns by now. They are regularly posted on the website of the International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal (ICFFMAJ), www.mumia.org. They are reposted here in chronological order and in Word format, sometimes with pictures added by myself. I hope that this gives activists a tool to spread Mumia Abu-Jamal's words "far and wide" (Alice Walker), contributing to a better understanding of the world in which we live and to the struggle for Abu-Jamal's freedom.

June 27 Information on the Case of Mumia Abu-Jamal
-
Posted June 29, 2006. This is the latest information by Mumia Abu-Jamal's lead lawyer, Robert R. Bryan, on this case. Bryan alerts us that Abu-Jamal's case is at a critical juncture: great danger and great opportunity. This info contains a summary of the points contained in the brief Bryan will be filing until July 13 in respnse to the prosecution's brief, filed on March 16, demanding the reinstatement of Abu-Jamal's death sentence. An analysis of the present situation by Jeff Mackler from the San Francisco Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal will be posted shortly, as will be a German translation of Robert R. Bryan's letter.

Lies Our Cop Propagandists Told Us

Posted March 16, 2006. In the previous posting, I commented on the Fraternal Order of Police's continuing campaign to have Mumia Abu-Jamal executed. In the meantime, ex-MOVE sympathizer turned fanatical MOVE hater Tony Allen has commented on my comments, joining the anti-Abu-Jamal campaign of the FOP. Unfortunately, Allen's comments are driven by a vicious and sick hatred that clouds all sober reasoning. But judge for yourself. I have answered these comments to set the factual record straight.

Race Against Death, with two thirds of a new chapter
-
Posted April 28, 2006. Right in time for the U.S. trip of Mumia activists Annette, Monika, and myself, the latest version of my book in PDF. A very interesting film is being made right now in close connection with the book - centered on the experiences of a young man who was born on the same day Mumia Abu-Jamal was arrested! Please note that what is posted here is work in progress, so don't quote it as if it were finished. Criticism, suggestions and comments of all sorts are warmly recommended, however. My hope is to find an American publisher right in time to do something for achieving justice for Abu-Jamal - and so many others, who were mainly convicted because they were "ethnic," poor, and/or radical. Comments of any sort please to mikschiff@t-online.de. Note that I'm away until May 15, but after that day, I will take note of and answer to everything I receive.

August 8, 2005, is the 27th anniversary of the unjust imprisonment of nine (!) The protest activities being organized for Monday, August 8, are the subject of the July 19, 2005, MOVE Press Release. More on the case of the MOVE 9 can be learned from Margot Harry's excellent book "Attention MOVE! "Race Against Death. The Struggle for the Life and Freedom of Mumia Abu-Jamal" von Michael Schiffmann
-

What follows is the text of an initiative of the German Support Network for Mumia Abu-Jamal (GSNMAJ). For the time being, this initiative is coordinated by some of the people who helped to start it. Their contact information is given below. Signers will be notified of any changes. We hope it can serve to broaden international support for the long overdue justice for Mumia Abu-Jamal. This initiative cannot and is not meant to replace the overarchingly important struggle in the U.S. itself, first and fore-most by the International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal, to win justice in this case.
